IU Indy - VanNuys Fire Alarm Replacement
This AEC-ME project fully replaced the fire alarm system in IU Indy’s VanNuys Medscience building. The upgrade prepared the building for mass notification and connected it to a campus-wide fire alarm monitoring network. AEC-ME provided the MEP engineering services.
The work included a new fire alarm control panel, smoke detectors, fire sprinkler equipment, air handling unit smoke detectors, manual pull stations, and voice/strobe devices. The fire suppression system was also extended to cover new areas in the basement and first floor.
The construction cost was about $1.2 million. Work took place over roughly 12 months in phases. This allowed the building to stay occupied with minimal disruption to professors, students, and researchers.
