IU Indy - Hine Hall AHU 2-3 and VAV Replacement
AEC-ME provided mechanical engineering designs for the replacement of AHU-2 and AHU-3 and associated boxes for IU-Indy’s Hine Hall. The new AHUs serve the south portion of the first floor of Hine Hall and have 21 existing fans powered terminal units (TUs). The new VAV TUs were designed to match the airflow of the existing fan powered boxes. The existing AHUs were deficient on outside air. The new design increased outside air to approximately 20% to meet current codes. Ductwork was upgraded to improve airflow. HVAC controls were coordinated with Siemens Controls. As part of discovering the deficient outside quantities, AEC-ME upgraded the chilled water & steam systems (as part of a separate infrastructure project) to meet the increased load from the higher outside air.
