Delaware County Jail and Justice Center

The Delaware County Jail and Justice Center Project involved the renovation and expansion of a former school building into a justice center for Delaware County, Indiana. The new facility houses a multitude of programs including multiple 2 level cell/dormitories pods for inmate housing with mezzanines at each level, a vehicle sally port, dietary, training, holding, lockers, and additional support areas. The center also supports costs and the justice system for the county. The new construction is approximately 37,000 SQFT and the existing building is 220,000 SQFT. AEC-ME provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering design services. The scope included full HVAC replacement including chiller, boilers, ductwork, and air handling units along with added back up power and fire alarm systems to the engineered smoke control system. Construction cost was $47M.
