IU Health Stone Carver Admin Building
IU Health contracted a team to renovate a nearly 29,800 SQ FT facility into a new Administrative Office Building. The renovation included interior wall construction and ceiling changes, interior finishes, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing upgrades, and access-controlled doors / security enhancements. Construction budget was $2.9M.
For the mechanical system, 13 rooftop air handling units were planned for replacement. After much discussion a system using condensing boiler and VAV was preferred for low maintenance. Zoning and controls were created based on consideration of rooftop unit locations and room’s proximity to exterior walls.
Electrical upgrades including all new LED lighting interior and the building’s perimeter, upgrading
the building’s grounding system, and a new Data / IT system to match IUH standards. Lighting controls included vacancy and daylighting controls in specific areas, and card readers for controlled access.
Plumbing upgrades included new hot water heater, sensor-activated faucets and toilets, and new kitchen type fixtures in the Hub area.
AEC-ME was responsible for design of the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, technology, and access control systems.
